What Kind Of TP Do You Have?
There seems to be a lot of confusion about TPs? And no, I’m really not talking about toilet paper.
So what kind of TP am I talking about? Well to a massage therapist, it could be a Tender Point or a Trigger Point. They are not the same thing, they are totally different and there is a lot of confusion about which is which. So I thought I would hopefully clear things up a little bit.
A Tender Point is when I am working on your shoulder and I hit a spot that is tender right there.
A Trigger Point is when I am working on your shoulder and I hit a spot that “triggers” some pain or tenderness somewhere else, like up into your head or down into your arm.
So a tender point hurts just in that spot and a trigger point “triggers” pain or tenderness somewhere else.
No need to run out to the store to get your TP because everyone has at least one tender point or trigger point on their body. No TP shortage anytime soon.
